Visit to the PO Box

Here is the contents from the monthly trip to the Head PO Box:
• Valpak coupons
• Two letters from someone I would guess is an old lady to someone I would guess is also an old lady. Correct PO Box number, but since we’ve had this box for over 20 years, I would guess the person sending the letters has the wrong address.
• PO Box renewal notice

Pretty standard contents nowadays. I always look through the Valpak coupons even though I’ve never found anything worth using. Today I noticed one for a dentist on top of Queen Anne that goes by “Dr. Max”.

There are two reasons right off the bat I’d never go to this guy: One, I’d never go to anyone in the medical profession that advertises in valpak. Two, I’d never go to anyone in the medical profession who follows the title Dr. with their first name or, worse, a nick name. First names? That’s what TV doctors do. Dr. Phil, Dr. Drew etc… or nick names like Elvis’ doctor, “Dr. Nick”. I don’t want to be that casual and chummy with the health care professional that’s fixing what’s wrong with me. I’ll pass on that offer.

Oh yeah, here’s the address to send stuff to:

Slabtown Bender!

We had a great time again this year. Thanks to Slabtown and Courtney for having us back. Thanks to Kepi for coming down and playing with us.
Special thanks to everyone that came out to the show. Portland is the best!  Kenny the Gardener was there with his camera. I’ll see if there is anything worth posting later.

One down, one to go!

Holy shit! The Funhouse show was great!

Spent time in the back hanging out with Wreckless Eric, Kepi, John Ramberg and the Sangster boys. Nardwuar, (via Brian Foss)  gave us copy of Nardwuar’s new LP Comp “Busy Doing Nothing” on Mint. One side various artists / other side is all Evaporatators!  Evaporators will be opening for Andrew WK at the Showbox in March. Get your copy of the record and more Nardwuar info here.

The place was packed the whole night. The Kepi/Kurt Bloch set was killer!

Slabtown Bender in Portland tonight!

OMG! Kepi / Kurt Bloch / Head Punk Rock Weekender…

… If you consider a weekender to be 4 songs.

That’s right! Kepi from the Berry Pickers, The Groovie Ghoulies and Kepi Ghoulie will come up after we finish to sing four songs from the Great American Kepi Songbook (that’s all we were able to learn) with Head backing him as well as extra bonus guest star Kurt Bloch! Then we’ll keep the party going down at the Slabtown Bender on Saturday where we’ll do it again.

Kepi will also being playing two solo acoustic shows Sunday at Full-Tilt Ice Cream Parlor in Ballard and Monday at the Upstairs Bar in Belltown.

Lineup Change Friday

Due to circumstances beyond their control, Thee Sgt Major III will not be performing Friday.

updated lineup:
Wreckless Eric
Head
The Tripwires

10PM The Funhouse

Now that we’ve got more time, we’ll finally have the opportunity to premier “Beam Me Up, Lord”; that 45 minute epic space jam we’ve been working on. It’s just a little preview of the direction Head will be going musically in the future.

Extra practice. OMG!!!

Because we care, we’re going to cross the 520 bridge (we’ll cover the toll) and see our buddy Eden at Evolution rehearsal studios on Tuesday for an ultra rare extra practice. The reality of the special guest(s) has upped the ante so we better make sure we’re ready. OMG! We’re going to up our usual 76 percent commitment to 80 percent for this gig.

If you’re in a band that needs to practice and know a week ahead of time, check out Evolution. Then go to Burgermaster on the way home.

FYI. We’re not being paid to promote this. (who’d be paying us anyway?) Eden just happens to be a good guy running a good place.

One Week To Go!

Two big rock concerts next weekend. Please come check them out if you can.
I saw Wreckless Eric a few years ago and he was great. The Tripwires will be backing him up. Together they will be unstoppable. I hear he’s going to be playing the Stiff era stuff. I sure hope he plays his equally great more recent songs and the Len Bright Combo classics as well. We may have a surprise guest playing with us during our Seattle show, maybe Portland too. Maybe even two guests. We’ll see.
