Little John and The Monks “Black Winds”

Big D and I heard this Monday on KMCQ. They may be playing commercials now but KMCQ is blowing minds! Even Big Jim Martin wouldn’t play this one.

Tour posts upgraded!

I’ve painstakingly gone through and swapped out the lo-res images with higher res versions. Now when you click on an image, a bigger one magically appears.
Same content and photos, just easier to see what’s going on in the photos now.

Innsbruck wrap up

Innsbruck was great! My voice managed to come back during the sound check. The crowd kept us up on stage way longer than we planned but we finally wore them out. A great ending to the tour. Thanks to Chris and Hank for everything and The Reekys for playing. Big thanks to Franz and Diego for setting everything up. Those guys are the best. Most of all thank you to all the people who came out to see us. We hope to see you again in the future!

Brescia

Another lengthy drive today. We dropped Simoni, the Photogenics bass player who came with us to La Spezia from Villadossala off in Brescia before heading to the hotel.
This was the most iffy show of the tour because we were opening for two metal/hardcore bands. When we saw their sound checks we were even more concerned, not just because they play a different genre of music than us, but because they can all really play! We’re a bunch of hacks. The guys in A Willhelm Scream couldn’t have been nicer. Low and behold we wound up playing the best show of the tour. We dodged a bullet! We headed back to the hotel and went to bed.

La Spezia

We did a sound check as soon as we got into town after the long drive from Villadossala. Diego dropped us off at the hotel for a few hours before heading back to the club for pizza with the High School Dropouts who we were opening the show. Skaletta Rock Club is owned by Diego as well. His brother Fabio did a great job on sound. Pretty good turnout for a weeknight. My voice is still pretty rough so Giacomo from High School Dropouts bailed me out and sang “Tireshedding”.

Villadossala

Franz had to go do shows with his band so he left us in the capable hands of his business partner Diego. We walked around Genova for a few hours during which it started to rain. This turned out to be a god blessing because it gave me the opportunity to purchase an Italian umbrella from one the local vendors for five euros. We left Genova and high-balled it to Villadossala. The Titty Twister is a nice club. We stayed in the bunker above the club. We were fortunate to play with the Photogenics again. My voice is starting to go out so some songs had to be cut from the list. Thankfully Davida from The Photogenics came up to sing “Tireshedding” since there was no chance I could. Low turnout but it was still fun.

Genova

We got to the hotel around 6:30 and one of the rooms wasn’t ready. It still wasn’t ready when it was time to leave for the club. No bathroom in the room, just a bidet! Gross!! It’s what a European prison cell must be like (har!).
We had the longest sound check ever. Massive feedback problems. While eating dinner, a TV crew came and interviewed Touch and Tulu! Must’ve been a slow news day.
I Ramoni played first. They do Ramones covers in their native Genovese dialect. Before we started I told the crowd we were going to perform our own songs in our Seattle dialect. There were plenty of technical problems tonight but everybody seemed to have a good time anyway. The highlight was “Spend The Night Alone” where not only did the crowd sing along, they added additional harmonies not in our version. It sounded incredible! Thank you for making it so great!

Tomorrow we continue on to Villadosolla or as Big D calls it Villadosedosalla.

Imperia!

This is the first show Franz has ever booked in the town. It was held at some communist club. No joke. They had some hot pics of Mao, Lenin, Ho Chi Minh and that Che dude that all the college kids dig. The club made us dinner consisting of locally caught swordfish and a local version of lasagna that was great. We talked to the opening band, The Ratbones about The Ramones and other things. The Ratbones played a solid set to a packed room full of locals looking for anything to do on a Monday night. We helped clear some of the people out. We played OK. Still haven’t nailed it shut.

Lenin!

More commies!

Scene outside the club

We spent the night at the promoter, Alessandro’s family vacation place In a nearby town

Then went back to the club to get the gear and walk around before we left for Genova.
